I heard something today that struck a chord in me. There is a new study out (I don’t know where or by whom) that said there are two things that will make people happy. Not surprisingly, it doesn’t have anything to do with material things.
- Help another person. Serve! When you give to others, it takes the focus off of yourself.
- Be grateful. When we live with a grateful attitude our outlook on life is much better.
This got me thinking about how these two things correspond really well in how you grow a social tribe. If you’re constantly self-promoting online, you will repel people. If you’re giving and have a grateful attitude, you will attract people. You will grow your tribe. Pretty simple right?
Growing a tribe is a methodical process that takes time, but it is possible for any organization.
